MONDAY MORNING LAUGH - BONECRUSHER
oh oh.

If you don’t get this… you are one of them ;).

This bike is totally different from any other folding bikes. Sun has designed a bike that exactly looks like a suitcase. The suitcase itself is the bike and totally useless to carry anything. This looks cool but the design I believe is flawed since anything that is removable (just like the pedal) will eventually get lost making this entire thing useless. Anyways, it is a nice concept that will set you back US$400.
It is definitely not recommended to bike with an iPOD blasting and blocking all the ambient sound around you. Especially so if you are cycling along a main highway. However, if you are just biking around your village or leisurely in a campus (like UP) then nothing beats having an iPOD to make your ride a lot enjoyable.
Let me guess, you usually put your iPOD inside your shorts pocket or behind on your pocket jersey. What will then happen when Madonna or Michael Jackson or a song you truly hate hits the next track. In this occasion you will bear the momentary agony and block the sound as if you are not hearing anything. What if the next few tracks turn to be lousy as well. That truly sucks…. How you wish you can control your iPOD…
Your problem is now solved. Presenting Marware iPOD Bike Mount. This device fits your 5G iPOD (with video). Control is within your fingertips and you can exactly see what you are playing. You can even lower the volume or pump it up. It is not advisable but you can even view what is being played on screen.
Interested in this? I have four (4) more units and selling the each kit for Php1,500. You can PM me at folrana@gmail.com.
Cool isn’t it? Now you can truly rock and roll.

This is the bike mount. The likewise serves as the clip to the iPOD case

The iPOD Video is definitely within reach.

I admit I am a gadget freak. But I don’t think I will go to this extent.
Now if we can only put a PSP in here.

No it is not a tandem. This is really a bike for couples who want to seat side by side - for all you diehard romantics. Who wants to be together all the time — holding hands is possible. Nobody will be in a superior position, unlike a tandem where riders always fight who will be in front. This time the couple will hit the road side by side and ride to the sunset together.

Make sure you and your partner’s weight are not really opposites or else cornering will be tricky ;).
Yes, absolute yes, you heard it right. A treadmill designed for bicycle riders. This is totally different from the usual stationary bike you see in fitness clubs or the small contraption you put in your rear wheel to make your bike stationary.
The equipment, called the Super Trainer, is 12 feet long, 3 feet wide and about 2,500 pounds. It has an endless patch of road which mimics a usual road ride. The cyclist can pedal up to maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour and can incline the road to a maximum grade of 16.3%. Will totally work in the Philippines at 220 volts.
Patent is still pending and pricing still to be announced. Unless you are thinking of being another Lance Armstrong you better just settle with the simpler version, the E-Motion Rollers at US$795 (Php35,000) or just hit the road, jack.

It is about time. Finally, a major university have adopted cycling as an alternative transportation in campus. The University of the Philippines, spearheaded by the members and alumni of the U.P. Mountaineers and in celebration of its Centennial launched it last April 11, 2008. The project advocates bicycle rides within campus to promote less reliance on fossil-fuel products and battle global warming. Definitely, the lesser the UP Ikot jeepneys and cars inside the more breathable the air in the campus not to mention more tone bodies and smaller asses ;).
Students will be renting the colorful bikes with step-through frames per semester in the amount of Php500 and are required to purchase their own helmets. Most of these bikes will also have utility baskets where students can put their books. They will likewise be given a bicycle clinic on responsible and proper bike riding including proper bike maintenance by the Firefly Brigade. Most of the stores surrounding the campus will also be taught on how to fix bikes and cater to simple bike tune-ups.
Bike paths, cables and bike racks have likewise been provided for a definitely hassle free ride.
Wishing that other universities and other institutions follow suit.

Bike Cafe is a product of our love for cycling. It is not only a passion that we (my family) are seriously engaged in but it is likewise an advocacy. We want to encourage people to again ride their bikes not only as a hobby or a form of exercise but most especially as a lifestyle change. Now, more than ever, we need to be conscious of our environment — the impact of the constant neglect is now taking its toll. I believe it is now high time for us to participate and act. We commit that Bike Cafe online is only the beginning. We intend to pursue this further. Right now, this blog is just a start.
Hang on….. this will be a great ride.
